Periodic Table Coffee Cup

Designed by Robert E. Buxbaum, himself. Essential equipment for any membrane research program. Hydrogen appears here twice; once as an alkali metal (HCl) once as a non-metal (NaH). Shows how much extra surface area a cylinder provides by including all the rare-earth metals and lanthanides where they belong. Color = Blue of Tyre, White.

Ammonium-EDDS

Ammonium-EDDS (Ethylenediamine-N,N'-disuccinic acid) soap 10%. Biodegradable, and non-toxic heavy metal chelator. Used to remove heavy metals (lead, arsenic, chrome, iron, and nickel) from surfaces including walls, floors, desks, and silicon wafers. Has also been used as an antidote to lead poisoning.

Inert gas purifier

Similar to the PS2-GC50 from SAES getter but with somewhat longer life and a dual zone heater for higher purity output. Moreover, it offers twice the life time compared to the PS2-GC50, but no end-of-life indicator. 1/8" VCR output.

Gas permeation measurement system

Measure the permeation rate for gases through sheets of poymers or metal via the pressure change ASTM method. This system includes a small volume chamber with a presure sensor accurate to 0.01 mTorr, a high vacuum valve. Pressurize the cell with up to 2 atm gas and apply vacuum to the low pressure side. The permeability of the material is calculated from the rate of pressure rise. Vacuum pump sold separately.

2 Part Pd-Coating Solution

Pd Coating Solution

2 part Pd coating solution: 250 ml Part A, contains 1.3 gm Pd in ammonia with chelating agents; 250 ml; Part B is the reducer.

Activator Solution

Activator solutions: 150 ml Sn activator concentrate; plus 150 ml Pd Activator solution concentrate. For coating Pd on ceramics or on many refractory metals. Dilute to 20% with water to use.
