Hydrogen Permeation Membranes and Hydrogen Purification Cells
Most REB Research products are built around our sandwich metallic hydrogen permeation membranes. These are non-porous, and 100% selective. They are palladium coated, or palladium-copper coated, refractory metals, or palladium silver; they have higher flux than plane palladium silver and are more resistant to poisoning from water, methane, ethane, CO, and CO2. The palladium-copper coated membranes are tolerant to 1000 ppm H2S. We make low temperature hydrogen-extraction membranes used by NASA for the space shuttle, and high temperature membranes that operate to 750C and pressures up to 1500 psi. For more about the science behind the membranes. Also used for cold fusion.

Hydrogen Purifiers

Most customers prefer to buy our membranes as complete hydrogen purifiers or complete hydrogen purifier cells. Our Mr Hydrogen, hydrogen purifiers combines a purifier cell with a heater, temperature controller, insulation, and bleed control. Easy to use for out of the box. Can be modified for isotope separation or membrane distillation. Saves approximately $600/cylinder compared to UHP-zero grade hydrogen. Has been used to increase the sensitivity of gas chromatagraphy.

Membrane Reactors and hydrogen generators

These are far more efficient and compact than sequential hydrogen generators and purifiers . They generate 100% pure hydrogen from reforming or ammonia cracking, or coal. They provide inherent load-following for fuel cells, and have been used to make benzene from methane. See our patented membrane reactor design and prices, or our complete hydrogen generators based on this technology.
Catalysts, Inks, Furnaces, and Hydrogen Sorbers
As a product of our years working with hydrogen, we have begun to provide a raft of products for hydrogen generation, experimentation, and extraction. We make furnaces for use with our membrane reactors, catalysts, and hydrogen sorbers to remove hydrogen from air or inert gas. Some of our hydrogen sorbers have exceptional chage-discharge capabilities for metal hydride batteries.
Hydrogen Transport Barriers A surface coating of gold or other low-permeation materials can reduce hydrogen permeation through stainless steel. This is important with tritium, and for some high temperature applications.
